/*
CONCURRENCY is an evening of performances exploring the simultaneous nature of experience;
*/

//While CONCURRENCY in computing describes parallel
execution, the artists involved also explore the
interactions between:
\[
existence, articulation,and action,
the material and virtual,
the past, future, and present,
the conscious and subconscious
\];

//CONCURRENCY is interested in the complexity of language.
What is lost in translation and what is added?
What power is exerted in choosing words to begin with?
What are the limits of text and the possibilities of
sound and the body's syntax?

Wikipedia.prototype.einsteinsTheoryOfRelativitiy = "what is simultaneous in one frame of reference will not necessarily be simultaneous in another.";

//The artists in CONCURRENCY explore the relationship
of meaning to time, especially in the digital age,
and how this relationship informs shared and individual
understandings of HXSTORY.

With over 30 self produced and performed pieces under her belt, Rosalynd Safari has built a repertoire of work that compels audiences (regardless of gender) to connect with their intrinsic connection to the feminine power. Rosalynd Safari began her professional performance career while in high school as a dancer and furthered her studies of modern dance performance at The University of The Arts in Philadelphia. There she was exposed to interdisciplinary collaboration as a means for story telling and generating emotional responses from audiences by using sound, mixed media, theater, improvisation and design. Rosalynd Safari explores the deepness of the Divine Feminine through ritual and spiritual contexts in performance. She creates space for the complete release of her self and the audience into an emotionally vulnerable and trance like state in order to communicate with the feminine aspect of human nature. Rosalynd has shown work nationally and internationally in Washington D.C., New York City, California, Philadelphia, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, London, and in November 2019 she will be hosting her first curated performance in India. @ra.safari

Spacemaker and freestyle artist, Zam Quartz is a Black non-binary plant-based organism. With honeyed decadence and petaled precision, Zam infuses their performances with elements of drag, burlesque, and drama. They have spread their petals at shows all over DC including DC Weirdo Show, Pretty Boi Drag, Millenial Pink, Swazz Events, and Bent. Rooted in the tradition of Black/African storytelling, Zam Quartz' pieces grapple with the thorns of oppression and explore the exquisite dream of bloomed liberation. Social media: @Zamquartz

Rex (Alexandra) Delafkaran is an Iranian-American interdisciplinary artist, dancer and curator from California, currently based in Washington, DC. Delafkaran holds a degree in Ceramics and Performance Art from the San Francisco Art Institute, and currently is the Gallery Manager at Hamiltonian Gallery. Using movement and objects she explores the rich tensions between bodies, intimacy, language and identities. Selected exhibitions and projects include a recent solo show "Tender Bits" at Hillyer IA&A (DC), "Nevermind Azizam" at Transformer Gallery (DC), "Shadow Casters" at Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum (DC), and "Queery for your Vastness" at Diego Rivera Gallery (CA). Selected performances include work at Platforms Project Art Fair (Greece), Satellite Art Fair (FL), Panoply Performance Lab (NY), The Textile Museum (DC), Southern Exposure Gallery (CA), and others. Delafkaran's collaborative curatorial project "HYPHEN AMERICAN" with artist Tsedaye Makonnen debuted in Fall 2018 at George Washington University and continues as an ongoing project, as do various performance collaborations at spaces like Rhizome Art Space and Dwell DC. While managing Hamiltonian Gallery, Delafkaran curates independently, teaches movement practices and ceramics when possible, and continues to perform and exhibit nationally and internationally. rexdelafkaran.com

MaestroA is a project that uses opera as a means of embracing paradoxes and demolishing they/them.

Naty Tea combines her interdisciplinary background in Psychology (MA) and Art to explore the intersection between symbolic and default worlds. Her distinct immersion in Jungian Psychology provides a backbone for conscious explorations of her unconscious, particularly though her leather brand (Haus of Jung) and music. Tea strives to manifest the transmutative power of sonic stories woven into her sets. Soundcloud: Naty Tea
