Camera Obscura: Light, Lens, Image is a new hands-on workshop focused on the very basics of camera systems.
In this three hour workshop, we will build a camera obscura box--an ancient device that uses a pinhole or a lens to capture an image onto a plane. Together we will:
- Investigate and discuss the basic mechanisms of using lenses to produce an image
- Build our own camera obscura using a lens and tracing paper
- Convert one of these boxes into a very simple digital camera using a desktop scanner!
Each participant will walk out of the workshop with their own camera obscura (scanner not included, but you can easily add your own)! The ticket price of the workshop covers all costs all materials.
This event will run from 7pm to 10pm.
- We will meet at The Active Space in Bushwick, Brooklyn, near the Jefferson L train stop.
- Address: 566 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11237.
