Social dance + book pick-up

Somerville, Massachusetts
$6.63 - $27.74 (includes all fees)

Come for a casual night to dance blues & socialize in person (feel free to bring your new-to-blues friends!)

Black History Month is fast approaching and we've got some special things lined up! Our approach this year, and perhaps going forward, is to explore important topics, art, and aspects of history while using a specific artist, writer, activist, or figure as a point of focus.

This year, we’ve chosen the renowned playwright August Wilson as the fulcrum.

When you come to this week's Blues Union, you’ll be able to grab your free copy of August Wilson's play "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" to take home and read during the month of February. (While supplies last).
February will also feature viewing parties of two blues related movies related to Mr. Wilson’s work and/or Ma Rainey, a look at Black history and housing policy through the lens of Mr. Wilson’s home town, and of course, lots of music and dancing.

More to be announced soon, so stay tuned. For now, see you on Thursday! 📚

There will be an instructor on call to give folks the basics on the side while social dancing starts.

Pay-what-you-can $5-15 - cash or Venmo at the door, or pre-sale tickets online here (WithFriends members, get pre-sale tickets to use your discount.)
No one turned away due to lack of funds.

DJs TBA!

This is part of the continuing Union Foundations project, helping us rebuild and reconnect.
